FAQ

What is cast iron cookware and why should I use it? Cast iron is solid molten iron poured into a single seamless piece. It holds and spreads heat evenly, lasts for generations, and works on the stove, in the oven, on the grill, and over a campfire. It is chemical-free and gets better with every use.
Do I need to season my cast iron before using it? Our pieces come naturally pre-seasoned and are ready to cook right out of the box. With regular use and a light coat of oil after washing, the seasoning improves over time for an even more nonstick surface.
How do I care for and clean cast iron? Hand wash with warm water and a soft brush, dry completely on the stove, then rub with a thin layer of oil. Avoid the dishwasher and soap-heavy scrubbing, which can strip the seasoning and cause rust.
Is the enameled cast iron different from the seasoned kind? Enameled cast iron has a porcelain coating over the iron, so it needs no seasoning and resists sticking and staining. It is ideal for slow cooking, braising, and serving at the table in color.
